Border fence to cost 25x more than originally expected
Via SFGate I see that another Republican proposal will rape the federal government's coffers while accomplishing nothing:
The cost of building and maintaining a double set of steel fences along 700 miles of the U.S.-Mexico border could be five to 25 times greater than congressional leaders forecast last year, or as much as $49 billion over the expected 25-year life span of the fence, according to the nonpartisan Congressional Research Service.
How typical. NOT ONLY was the estimate 25x off, but it still leaves out the cost of acquiring the land, and labor to BUILD the fence. Also note that one of the potential contractors was recently arrested for employing illegal alien labor.
Wow. Everyone say it with me now, I EXPECT NOTHING LESS FROM THE REPUBLICAN PARTY THESE DAYS.
