More on John Warner's snub of his own bill

I'm completely convinced that John Warner (R-VA) has no idea what he's doing. Last night, I reported on Warner's snub of his OWN bill, and now, via the Richmond Times Dispatch, we get Warner's pathetic excuse of an explanation:

Warner, R-Va. and former Senate Armed Services Committee chairman, sided with GOP leaders on the test vote -- although its outcome stalled full Senate consideration of his own measure.

Warner, a former secretary of the Navy, said afterward he voted with party leaders because he didn't want to cut off debate and potentially keep other senators from putting forward their own views through new resolutions.

"Eventually, the Senate has got to get the thing up," Warner added about his resolution, which registers disagreement with Bush's buildup of 21,500 troops.

Good grief! If the Republicans want to talk about "flip flops," they should know all about them, since the KINGPIN of flip flopping hails from their party.

Oh, and by the way, the genius Republican Senators who apparently have no clue what a system of "checks and balances" means, have proposed an "amendment" that would no longer allow Congress to block funding for the Iraq war. Why don't we just go ahead and say it, the Republican party wants Bush to be Dictator in Chief, with NO means of oversight on his administration.
