DC finally becomes a real part of the U.S.

Pseudo Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) and Tom Davis (R-VA) are co-sponsoring a bill set to pass that will add two seats to the United States Congress, bringing the total to 437. The state of Utah will gain one seat (bringing it's total to 4), and the District of Columbia will FINALLY get a (real) representative.

State legislators in Utah will hold a special session starting Monday to begin redrawing state congressional districts.

Eleanor Holmes Norton becomes a real Congresswoman, DC finally gets a (real) representative, and Tom Davis is still a moron. I'm assuming he took no time to think this through. Think about it, the state of Utah was only a couple hundred residents short of gaining another representative in the 2002 reapportionment, they would have LIKELY gained another one in the next reapportionment ANYWAY. Not only that, but the Utah state legislature is going to have to shave off areas of already GOP dominated districts in order to create the fourth district. I'll be willing to bet that one of those districts is FAR MORE LIKELY to vote for a Democrat way sooner than DC would ever vote for a Republican.

Eleanor Holmes Norton 2, Tom Davis and the Republicans 0

Hey now, Tom Davis is really not that bad. First of all, I'd like to thank him for co-sponsoring this bill that has been tabled for far too long. Can't be mad at Davis either...his opponent this past cycle was a real bozo.
