Update: Gates vote expected by 5pm

I wrote on this yesterday, and said the full Senate vote is expected before the week's end, and it appears now that we'll have a vote by 5pm today from the Senate.

UPDATE: The Senate as expected has confirmed Robert Gates as the next Secretary of Defense. He won't be sworn in until early 2007, meaning, at least another month of Donald Rumsfeld.
