Now he claims the war on terror is just like the American Revolutionary war!

According to George Bush, at least. While he celebrated George Washington's 275th birthday at Mount Vernon yesterday, he actually linked the war on terror to the U.S. fight for independence from Britain.

"George Washington's long struggle for freedom has also inspired generations of Americans to stand for freedom in their own time. Today, we're fighting a new war to defend our liberty and our people and our way of life," Mr. Bush said as he stood on the lawn in front of Washington's estate in Fairfax County.

With a re-enactor dressed as Washington looking on, Mr. Bush said the victories the first president won "were not meant for the United States alone," but were to advance freedom worldwide.

I would hardly say that there is even a remote comparison to be made between the Revolutionary war, and the so called "war on terror," but if that's the rhetoric George Bush wants to turn to, to try and resuscitate support for the "war on terror" then so be it.
