Robert Gates says even more troops could go to Iraq
Time for the Democrats to stop being polite and take the damn gloves off. Defense secretary Robert Gates went before the Senate Armed Services Committee yesterday and not only essentially admitted that the Bush administration is already anticipating failure regarding the troop escalation but that they also have no clue how many troops they're going to send:
"We think the number is going to be around 21,500," Gates told a Senate panel. "But it would not be more than 10 percent more -- 10 to 15 percent."
No more than 10 percent, 10 to 15 percent, 15 to 20 percent. Hell, try 50-100 percent genius, at least according to the bi-partisan Congressional Budget Office which last week claimed the number will ACTUALLY be anywhere between 35,000 and 48,000.
