BREAKING: Army Reserve officers stole millions of U.S. dollars in Iraq

BREAKING: Three former members of the U.S. Army Reserves, along with two civilians have been indicted in conspiracy, money laundering, and bribery of alleged fraudulent use of millions of U.S. dollars in Iraq.

UPDATE: The more I read and hear about this, the more I can't help but think about Dick Cheney, Halliburton, no-bid contracts, etc. etc. Hm, I wonder why. Anyway, a grand jury indicted three Army Reserve officers and two American civilians today charging that they steered more than $8.6 million in reconstruction funds meant for Iraq to a contractor in exchange for kickbacks:

The 25-count indictment, which includes conspiracy, bribery and money-laundering charges, is the latest development in a wave of criminal charges stemming from the alleged fraudulent use of U.S. funds in Iraq.

"This indictment alleges that the defendants flagrantly enriched themselves at the expense of the Iraqi people -- the very people they were there to help," U.S. Deputy Attorney General Paul McNulty said in a news release.

The two civilians indicted included Robert Stein who worked for the Defense Department, and an American contractor named Seymour Morris Jr.
