Florida Senator Agrees to Become Top RNC Officer

No big surprise here. Senator Mel Martinez of Florida will be the next RNC general chairman. Martinez will remain in office through the 2008 elections, and will primarily handle fundraising as well as serving as the chief spokesman for the RNC. Mike Duncan (the current general counsel) will handle RNC "day to day" operations, and come January will be elected RNC chairman.
